Welcome to the IMVA Medical News Commentaries and our archives of our publications. The Medical News Commentaries also contains Climate and Agricultural News as well as Into the Ashes reporting on world events and financial news. Some occasionally challenged my presumption of this expansion into other subjects and territories because they do not see the tie between those other topics and medicine and health. The fact is, if you look deeply enough, everything is connected to medicine and health.

Certainly the environmental disaster in the Gulf of Mexico will have a huge impact on the health of Gulf residents for many years. Climate change and agricultural shortfalls can and will compromise uncountable millions’ nutritional status and thus health. Financial stress and bankruptcy can destroy a person’s state of wellbeing yielding a heart attack or other health complication. Happiness and health are certainly connected. Even politics and powerful manipulations from the top (elite) have their great effect on medicine and public healthcare, so I feel comfortable ranging far and wide in my commentaries.

So you can expect us to touch upon the more vulnerable areas of life and emotion and even of spirit because all of these issues and levels of life have great impacts on our health. Our Medical News Commentaries are the work and writings of Mark Sircus Ac., OMD, director of the IMVA.

We hope soon to have a series of newsletters and communications automatically sent to new subscribers so they can get up to speed on our work and vision.

    Dear Dr. Sircus:

Just learned of your website today! I am impressed and have subscribed to your Newsletter.
However, I am VERY interested if you have any experience and/or treatments for Multiple Sclerosis?
My husband is paralyzed from the waist down and lives in a wheelchair, unable to even stand, let alone take a step. His torso muscles are deteriorating as are his arm muscles. He is plagued by spasticity in his legs which cause great discomfort at night.
He has NOT taken all these so called treatments of high-powered chemical formulas from American Pharmacies. He did treat with a German MD with a PhD in Chemistry, at the Max Blanc Insitute, in Germany, who used Natural Remedies. We have not desired to ‘try this’ or ‘try that’ and put all those Chemicals into his system. We have used good, home cooked meals with solid nutrition, lots of iodized and alkalized filtered water to provide as much ‘support’ to health and healing as possible.
Do you have any suggestions?? My hubby of 48 years has had the disease for over 50 years now. He is 73 and I, 76. We are both VERY positive and want to do ALL POSSIBLE to remain that way – even tho we are on the count-down of our years on earth.
Thank you in advance for your time and kind help. We await your response with great anticipation!!! Grace

    Grace,
Of course there are many things that can be helpful in Multiple Schlerosis, but each case is different and needs to be addressed individually. But for sure get the mercury chelated out, and get started on magnesium oil for the spasicity in his legs. Other things found very beneficial in MS are iodine and Vit B12 and Vit D3………..from sunshine preferably!

    Dr. Sircus,
I visit your site often to educate myself on your protocols.
I’m 62 years old and have arthritis in my hip joints. Within the last six months the bones in my shoulders started “cracking.” Last week while sleeping I moved my shoulder in such a way which caused me to awake with excruciating pain.
Question: What do you think is causing this bone cracking and pain and what natural supplements would you recommend?
For the past ten years I have taken a natural/holositc approach in all aspects of life including eating raw and organic foods. I used to exercise until the pain became too intense.
I am at my wits end and so frustrated. I would greatly appreciate your response as I trust your judgments are grounded in truth.

    Thank you, Gail

Without a complete history its hard to say exactly what your problem might be caused by, but I would definitely get on my basic protocol and get some magnesium oil first, to use on those painful joints. Calcification may be causing some of your problems and sodium thiosulfate might also be very helpful for you.

  • Gail said:

Thank you for your prompt reply. The magnesium oil is on order. I am not familiar with sodium thiosulfate, however. Where can I purchase this product?

  • Mark Sircus said:

    Gail,

Sodium Thiosulfate may be able to be purchased in a pet supply store as it is used in aquariums, or a pool supply store, but make sure to purchase it without anything else added in. Otherwise you will have to order it from a chemical supply company. Many chemical companies on the Internet carry it. Get the pentahydrate form.

hi Dr. Sircus, Would sodium bicarbonate be of benefit for my seemingly healthy 50 yr old sister who has a recurring problem with high blood pressure?
I thought that I read in one of your newsletters something to that effect.
    thank you.

  • Mark Sircus said:

    Andy,

It would be necessary to know much more about your sister before I could maka a blanket statement about this because in some sodium sensitive people the intake of the additional sodium in bicarbonate might be problematic. However some studies have shown that sodium bicarbonate does not have an effect on blood pressure.

Magnesium on the other hand has a definite lowering effect on blood pressure. Get her some magnesium first off.

Thank you again for your promt reply! Once I purchase the Sodium Thiosulfate how would I apply it?
    Gail

  • Mark Sircus said:

Sodium Thiosulfate can be added to drinking water (to taste) or added to baths giving a treatment like mineral springs where it occurs naturally.

  • Jim said:

You made a comment to Andy that “magnesium on the other hand has a definite lowering effect on blood pressure.”

Is there a specific source of magnesium supplement that you recommend? Also, what daily amount is appropriate?

    Thank you.

    Jim,

I recommend transdermal magnesium treatment with Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil, a completely natural form or magnesium chloride available at LL Magnetic Clay: http://www.magneticclay.com/ Its the best I’ve found. Use one or two ounces/day depending on your size and tolerance . Do this for about a month or two and then you can cut back once your levels are up to normal.
Much more information on this is available on the magnesium for life site and in my book on Transdermal Magnesium Therapy.

    Hi Mark,
We were on some yahoo groups together several years ago. I used to get your newsletters, but lost touch when we had server problems quite a while back. I stumbled upon your name on Dr. Mercola’s site and was glad to find you.

Do you believe that not keeping an alkaline balance in your body makes you more susceptible to nail fungus?

  • Mark Sircus said:

I beleve that not having a proper pH balance makes us more susceptible to invasions of harmful bacteria, virus and fungi of many different kinds. It is the terrain that makes the differernce between health and disease.

    Hi again Dr. Sircus,
Do you think that stevia can be substituted for the molasses or maple syrup when taking the S/B orally? would it still work on cancer that way for one who must watch their blood sugar?
    Thanks,
    Andy

Hello: I’m having thinning and bare spots of hair (on head)–this is the second time it’s happening. I take bioidentical hrt and levothyroxine (0.100MG)daily. Do you think the sodium bicarbonate could help? One naturopath thinks the hair loss is related to autoimmune. (Enjoyed hearing you on Talk 650 AM radio interview today!).

    Thanks,

    T.

Try rubbing some magnesium oil from LLMagnetic Clay on your hair and scalp daily. Its been known to restore hair growth and natural color as described in the Transdermal Magnesium Therapy book.

I heard you on The Power Hour. One of the subjects you talked about was keeping the body alkaline. I have found that my body is very alkaline due to the fruit that I eat daily. My doctor says that my cervix is too alkaline and that is the reason why I have had polyps, which had to be removed twice over a 12-year period. He recommended taking acidophilus (which doesn’t change the pH in my cervix.) What do you think? Can a person be too alkaline? Do I need to give up fruit?

    Thanks much!

  • IMVA Staff said:

    Dear Jane,
Yes, too alkaline a body can invite problems just like too much acidity can. Get some pH strips and test your urine and saliva and keep within your doctors recommended range. (Generally no higher that 7.3 or 7.4 ) There is more on the dangers of being too alkaline in the chapter on contraindications to using sodium bicarbonate.

    Great Site Dr. Sircus!

I drink Club Soda and was wondering if Potassium Bicarbonate is as healthy as Sodium Bicarbonate or is there a difference?
    Thanks!

    Hello Dr. Sircus and Gail,

Sorry I can’t remember the doctor’s name but recently read an article about a new theory and a new treatment for multiple sclerosis. The new theory came about from this doctor trying to find the answer for his own wife.

The theory is that it isn’t a disease but a vascular abnormality and is cured immediately by surgery to correct the vascular problem. It seems the treatment is just now being tried in very few places in
America. If I can pull this up again I will send more information or even better, I will forward the article to Dr. Sircus and he can share it in his newsletter. I think the problems were in the neck.

Gail, I have a couple of suggestions for those painful joints of arthritis. I don’t know whether pokeweed (poke sallet) grows where you live or not but those poke berries are just now forming and will be ripening in another month or so. Those poke berries are not poison and they kick the immune system into high gear. This is God’s medicine and its free for the picking. Just stay away from roadsides for picking them. Take them fresh while they last and dehydrate any excess pokeberries to take later. With all the controversy over the probability of microwaves destroying the nutrients in food, stay away from using your microwave as a dehydrator.

Another thing I have found really helpful for those joint pains is
methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) which is a first cousin of sulphur and which our body breaks down into DMSO. I read an article on this
substance 15 or more years ago in the Journal of Longevity and have been taking it ever since. Don’t be afraid to take a large dose
(horse) of this daily. I take approximately an ounce of the crystrals daily and have had no problems. You won’t be aware that it
is doing anything until you suddenly notice that your joints aren’t
telling that it is going to rain. Nice surprise.
